For the ultimate benefit of users, Operator members of WAC wish to give developers the opportunity to enrich their applications and sustain their revenue model with compelling features such as location-based service or in-application billing.
Whilst many communication features are available through the application on the mobile, the user experience can be further enhanced based upon additional capabilities operators can provide. These capabilities include things like validating a user's login and password, locating a friend's mobile phone, charging the user's account for extended game play and many more ... possibilities are limitless.
Exposed through Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs), these capabilities can be leveraged by the mobile application, or by a server that the mobile application is connected to; for example to send a Short Message.
WAC will ensure that developers can consistently gain access to network and back-end enablers which are exposed by the Operators. The GSMA OneAPI activity will play a core role in this provision.
